Before you start panicking, here are a few things you need to know to make the search for the right travel insurance much easier.
Super Visa insurance is travel insurance for visitors to Canada. It is called a Super Visa insurance because it is designed to cover medical emergency treatment costs while a Super Visa holder resides in Canada or is on a side-trip in other country, provided that the majority of the insurance coverage period is spent in Canada. The coverage must be for a minimum of $100,000 and the policy must have a minimum duration of one year.
If for some reason, your parents or grandparents are unable to obtain the Super Visa for Entry to Canada a refund will be provided so long as the reason is beyond their control.
If your family member leaves Canada before the one year is up, you can get a refund on the unused balance.
If there is a preexisting health condition, most insurance carriers are able to provide coverage provided that the condition is stable and your relative(s) will not be travelling against their doctor’s recommendation.
